Oak Grove is proud to be the birthplace of Ma Belle's WAMECo, one of the region’s most successful agricultural cooperatives.

Oak Grove is proud to be the birthplace of Ma Belle's WAMECo, one of the region’s most successful agricultural cooperatives. Founded by Ma Belle herself, WAMECo (Watermelon Company) became an integral part of Oak Grove’s identity, driving both local commerce and international trade. Ma Belle’s commitment to innovation and sustainability helped the town grow into a center of industry and commerce while maintaining its strong agricultural roots.

Once the highlight of summer in Stantonville, the Setter's Park Sunflower Festival was a beloved community event that brought people together in celebration of nature, art, and tradition.

Every year, families and visitors would gather from both sides of the track to stroll through acres of sunflowers, enjoy live music, and indulge in local food and crafts. The festival became a cornerstone of Stantonville’s cultural fabric.

However, in 1972, tragedy struck when a devastating fire swept through the festival grounds and the surrounding town destroying much of Setter's Park and bringing an abrupt and sorrowful end to the annual event. Lives were lost, along with homes and businesses. The emotional toll was profound, as the festival had grown to represent not just a seasonal gathering, but a deep connection to the community.

Though the festival has never returned, the memory of those sun-drenched days and the vibrant fields of gold live on in the hearts of Stantonville’s residents, a reminder of both beauty and loss.
